Survival of the fittest or, survival of the fattest?

Thousands of years ago our ancestors had to face the big problem of finding enough food to avoid starvation. While being forced to adapt to survive during food scarcity, only the ones whose hormones adapted to slow down metabolism in order to function with very little food intake made it. And today, we are all the descendants of the "fattest”.
We, humans, have gotten very good at slowing down our metabolism in order to store fat for later use. Our hormones are responsible for doing that job, and they do it really well. Though things are different today when it comes to food accessibility, unfortunately, our hormones don’t know that. And every little and/or big thing our bodies do is in order to adjust to conditions in our internal and external environment to best guarantee SURVIVAL. It is that simple. Our bodies do not care how we look in the mirror; all it is trying to do every minute of every day is SURVIVE. This is primarily why over restricting calories and “dieting” cause more harm than good and it is not the long-term solution to fat loss.
As we understand this, we know that being overweight is not a problem of willpower-eat less exercise more. It is way more complex than that.
Balancing your hormones and helping your body find harmony in its environment is what is key. How do we do that? By changing our bodies’ internal environment through proper nutrition (NOT calorie restriction), healthy psychological development, and by changing the external environment by eliminating or reducing the exposure to endocrine disruptors while adding positive stimuli through proper exercise.
It is a methodical process that with proper coaching is effective as well as fun!
